Ask a Librarian!

Becky

joined our staff Dec. 2010. Becky finished her Master's of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh in April 2011. Becky comes to us from the Circulation Desk at AC Free in Carnegie, which is why she might be familiar to some of you. Becky can help with computer questions, catalog issues and more.

Beth

Started as in intern during the summer of 2010. (You may remember her as McBeth!) Beth finished her Master's of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh in Dec. 2010. She will be working weekends and hosting Toddler Story times. We hope to arrange it so she can lead Babylap sit eventually. This is something we save to work this out with her other boss! Beth can help with reference work, computer issues and more. Just Ask!

is busy working full time for the Baldwin Library. (Some of you may recall that Gina worked full time for part of 2005.) Gina fits us into her busy schedule on Saturdays. She can be found at the Circulation Desk checking items in and out and answering all those questions you have! Gina like many members of our team, has her Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

Janet

became the library director in January 2006. She finished her Master's of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh in August of 2008. She has been involved with libraries her entire life and even managed a "special library" while employed at EDS. Janet is always open to suggestions on just about anything that will make Scott Township Public Library the best library you have ever walked into!

Kim

works as an assistant librarian at the Circulation Desk. Kim also helps with behind the scene work, such as preparing the bills. Kim is also VERY creative. If you need ideas on decorating, sewing, beading, quilting, painting, fish ponds, and more, seek Kim out. And, if you love the paint job that the library is slowly getting, thank Kim! She helped!!

Nancy

is a full time member of the staff and has her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh School of Library and Information Science. Nancy is in charge of our Circulation Desk. If you need a suggestion regarding a movie or book - Nancy will have it! Nancy's primary job is to keep the Circulation desk going (and she makes it look simple!). She schedules us all to cover the desk, keeps the items you want moving, and in general does her best to make your library experience a great one!

Sherry

is the Youth Services Manager. Sherry joined our merry band in February 2006. She has her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. Sherry loves to get down on the floor with the kids and she comes up with some great craft projects. (Samples of them are on display around the library.) Listen for the toot of the train whistle, and Story Time is ready to begin! (And check out her socks while you are at it.) Miss Sherry also is responsible for the Summer Reading Club. She plans all the programs and crafts. Then she brings it all together for a fun-filled event.

----------------------------------------------

Sue

is a library assistant and works directly with all of the adult volunteers at the library. If you are interested in volunteering in the library please contact Sue. She will work with you to determine what activities you can do to help keep the library running smoothly. Sue also covers the Circulation Desk and can help you request that special book you want to read or DVD you want to see! When Sue is not doing all of this, she also keeps the materials we order moving through the "pipe line": reviews invoices to make sure we got what we ordered; coordinates the placement of all labels on all the items; prepares them for cataloging; and releases them to you after everything has been done. She is another staff member who makes it all look so easy!

----------------------------------------------

Susan

joined our staff in Nov. 2010. Susan is new to the Circulation Desk side of a library. She is an avid reader and can help you. Readers advisory is her game!

Many of you may know Susan from her service to the Friends of the Library. She was the co-chair in 2010 for the Annual Book Sale.
