The Staff
Carolyn
has an extensive back ground in library services, especially with reference research and library instruction. Carolyn has her Ph.D. in Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. She is learning how the Circulation Desk and will eventually teach computer classes.
Gina
is busy working on her Master of Library and Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh. (Some of you may recall that Gina worked full time for part of 2005.) Gina fits us into her busy schedule on Saturdays. She can be found at the Circulation Desk checking items in and out and answering all those questions you have!
Janet
became the library director in January 2006. She is working on her Master's of Library and Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. She has been involved with libraries her entire life and even managed a "special library" while employed at EDS. Janet is always open to suggestions on just about anything that will make Scott Township Public Library the best library you have ever walked into!
Kathleen
is an active member of the Friends of the Library and now is also active as a weekend employee for the library. She works the Circulation Desk on Saturdays. Kathleen is also active in other community groups, such as the Sierra Club. Kathleen also shows horses around the east coast.
Kim
works as an assistant librarian. You will meet her at the Circulation Desk. Kim has been a volunteer for many years. (If you love the paint job, thank Kim! She helped!!) Kim is a long time resident of Scott Township.
Nancy
is a full time member of the staff and has her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh School of Library and Information Science. Nancy is in charge of our Circulation Desk. If you need a suggestion regarding a movie - Nancy will have it! She keeps the Circulation desk going - schedules us all to cover the desk, keeps the items you want moving, and in general does her best to make your library experience a great one!
Pat
is a long time resident of Scott Township. She works the Circulation Desk as a librarian assistant. Pat will gladly help you, learn to use The Catalog, or locate items in the library, or place requests to have items delivered here for you to pick-up.
Shannon
is the leader of our newest standing program for toddlers: 2nd & 4th Saturdays of every month @ 10am. She also works the Circulation Desk evenings and weekends. Shannon would some day like to go to library school.
Sherry
is our Children's Librarian. Sherry joined our merry band in February 2006. She has her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a Library Intern for Mt. Lebanon Public Library and also developed a Special Needs Resource Center for them. Sherry loves to get down on the floor with the kids and she comes up with some great craft projects. (Samples of them are on display in the library.) Listen for the toot of the flute, and Story Time is ready to begin! (And check out her socks while you are at it.)
Sue
is a library assistant and works directly with all of the volunteers at the library. If you are interested in volunteering in the library please contact Sue. She will work with you to determine what activities you can do to help keep the library running smoothly. Sue also covers the Circulation Desk and can help you request that special book you want to read or DVD you want to see!
Verna
is our Cataloger. She works very hard to make sure things get added to The Catalog correctly. She has cataloged on a volunteer basis since the library opened. However, this past year, 2007 we decided to "make an honest woman of her" and hired her. Verna has also served on the Board of Directors for the Library and is active in the Friends of the Library and has her degree in Library Science. Verna is another long time resident of Scott Township.
Wanda
is one of our smiling faces you will meet at the Circulation Desk. Wanda is a retired teacher from Maryland. When she retired she decided to move to the Pittsburgh area. (She does not live in Scott, but we love her anyway!)
